The BOOTLEG COLLECTION takes vintage T-shirts produced between the 1970s and 1990s as its point of reference and is constructed around the personal archive of designer Toru Fujimoto. For this piece, a vintage item from a custom motorcycle brand—closely connected to the theme of PROVOKE #4—has been reinterpreted through the perspective of MINUS. The body is pigment-dyed to express the fading and irregular surface fluctuations of a garment worn over many years. Its cropped box silhouette alters the balance between the upper and lower body, allowing for a wide range of styling possibilities. While the graphic on the original piece was rendered through conventional printing, this version reconstructs it using a specialized embroidery technique. Uneven outlines and tonal variations evoke the appearance of a distressed, partially faded print, translated through the contrasting medium of embroidery. Through repeated wear and washing, the embroidery thread gradually fades, recording the passage of time alongside the pigment-dyed body. Designed to be continually transformed by its wearer, each garment develops its own individual character through use.
