A contemporary reinterpretation of jeans from the 1870s, translated into one of MINUS’s signature silhouettes: a wide straight cut. The classical wide straight silhouette creates a clean, elongated vertical line, giving the garment a quiet sense of tension. This season’s signature barbed-wire motif is applied throughout the piece. Subtle in its presence, the pattern acts as a distinct accent within the overall styling. The fabric is a substantial canvas traditionally associated with workwear, selected for its weight and durability. The barbed-wire motif is discharge-printed by hand at a specialist printing workshop in Japan. With repeated wear and washing, both the pattern and fabric will gradually evolve, developing a deep and nuanced fade over time. A robust button fly reinforces the workwear construction, while the top closure features an original MINUS ring button. The front is equipped with easily accessible rounded slit pockets, while sharply defined, iconic back pockets give structure to the rear silhouette. Cotton thread is used throughout the entire construction, allowing the stitching and fabric to soften and settle together with continued wear. Drawing from the details of early jeans, the construction is reinterpreted through MINUS’s perspective, with variations in the stitchwork adding further depth to the piece.
