Part of the BOOTLEG COLLECTION, which pays homage to the 1990s vintage T-shirts found within designer Toru N.Fujimoto’s personal archive. Among them, NINE INCH NAILS is one of the bands that had a profound influence on his adolescence. This piece marks the BOOTLEG COLLECTION’s first exploration of a reconstructed remake product. Originally used for international postal transport, an authentic letter case from the British postal service, ROYAL MAIL, has been given a new function as a bag. Its generous proportions provide substantial storage capacity, including enough space for a laptop and other everyday essentials. With no internal frame or rigid reinforcement, the bag can also be folded and stored inside another bag when not in use. A zipper closure provides secure access to the interior. The original material retains the durability and water resistance required of an object once designed for postal service. A transparent compartment originally intended to hold cards containing postal and destination information has been reinterpreted as a sticker holder. Rather than erasing its former purpose, the design transforms its traces into a new function. The shoulder strap is constructed from Italian shoulder leather, the same material used by MINUS for details inspired by military GI belts. With continued wear, the leather gradually softens against the body while developing a muted luster and deeper tonal character. A D-ring is incorporated into the strap, allowing keys, charms, or other accessories to be attached. Its substantial capacity and dimensional form make the bag more than a utilitarian object, allowing it to actively influence the balance of a styling. Metal components are finished with a restrained DARL treatment, while every material and detail has been selected for its ability to evolve through use. An object that has completed its original purpose is given a new function—and a new passage of time. Designed to be completed through continued use.
