The SLASH SEAM HBT CARGO PANTS — a signature piece that embodies the spirit of MINUS. This iteration has been reimagined as a weighty cut-off short, crafted from tannin-dyed leather rich in shadows and depth. The structured texture of the material enhances the three-dimensionality of the wide silhouette, lending it a sculptural presence. Its large, functional cargo pockets and long flowing tapes add expressive movement, offering a variety of shifting impressions as the wearer moves. It is said that pigskin is perhaps the only leather that can still be considered truly “Made in Japan.” Though often associated with lower-end products in Japan, pigskin is highly valued in Europe for its durability, suppleness, and breathability — frequently found in luxury bags and leather goods across prestigious houses. Drawn to this cultural dissonance, Fujimoto began developing the material from scratch. Using a premium-grade tannin rarely applied to pigskin in domestic production, each piece is finished slowly and meticulously. Its capacity for beautiful aging is self-evident. Additionally, a special treatment to the underside of the leather allows the garment to forgo lining entirely, resulting in an unexpectedly light and comfortable wear — free from the stiffness often associated with leather. Details such as the signature rustic edges, and the strong tonal contrast of the leather, evoke the decadent aura that defines MINUS. In stark contrast, the minimal matte hardware provides a modern, understated counterpoint. This is a piece meant to be worn in, and lived with. Handmade in the atelier.
