We have reinterpreted 1870s denim from a contemporary perspective, translating it into one of MINUS’s signature silhouettes: the wide straight cut. The piece preserves MINUS’s grunge and rustic sensibility in its entirety. We have embraced the natural twisting found in vintage, unsanforized denim as a deliberate design feature, creating elegant curves despite the wide silhouette. Crafted from black denim woven in Okayama, the fabric undergoes a unique damage process and, as the final stage, is finished with natural dyeing—a recurring technique within our collections. The resulting tones, reminiscent of hues unearthed from abandoned coal mines, embody the decadent essence of MINUS’s concept. This individuality is intentional—a reflection of designer Toru Fujimoto’s vision to embrace fading, imperfection, and divergence as part of the design. At the same time, it serves as an antithesis to the standardized framework of prêt-à-porter.
