Designer Toru Fujimoto’s personal archive includes a collection of rare vintage garments. At MINUS, we often remake and release selected pieces from his personal collection. For this piece, we have chosen the Swedish Army M-59 Wool Zip-Up Sweater, one of the highlights from his archive. The M-59 series, used by the Swedish Army from 1959 through the 1990s, is renowned for its exceptional functionality and durability — qualities that make it one of the most complete examples of military wear ever produced. The sweater features a highly elastic rib-knit fabric, offering excellent lateral stretch and a naturally comfortable, form-fitting silhouette. Its rib construction also provides outstanding heat retention, making it highly functional as both a mid-layer and an outer garment. Ventilation holes are placed under the arms to release excess heat, while thumbholes at the sleeve cuffs allow it to function as a hand-warmer. The zipper is made by riri, a prestigious Swiss manufacturer known for precision and durability. Thanks to its collarless design, the piece can be styled easily either as an inner layer or worn on its own. Embodying MINUS’s signature aesthetic, this garment features Shunga (erotic art) embroidery — a recurring motif in our collections — translating the spirit of a Sukajan (souvenir jacket) into knitwear form.
