This piece elevates the apron—an essential item in atelier work—into a true styling component. In needlework, the apron is indispensable: it protects garments from stains and serves as a practical storage space for frequently used sewing tools. Drawing from the utility required in his own atelier practice, designer Fujimoto reinterpreted a prototype wrap skirt he once made, redesigning it with a distinctively MINUS rustic sensibility—bridging functionality and style. The material features MINUS’s original brown-core leather. All hardware is finished with a dull (dahl) treatment. To encourage the enjoyment of DIY customization, the lining is intentionally left free-floating. It can be worn as is, of course, but also invites each wearer’s personal interpretation. Born from our desire to create a bridge between utility and fashion utility, we named it the “Utility Kilt.” Please enjoy not only the aging of the leather, but also the freedom of interpretation that the piece offers.
