A contemporary reinterpretation of the jeans that emerged in the 1870s, reconstructed as a substantial pair of shorts based on one of MINUS’s signature wide silhouettes. While retaining the rugged presence of early jeans, the piece has been elevated through MINUS’s distinctly grunge and rustic sensibility. The silhouette is cut wide with a slightly deeper rise. Its boldly cut-off, elongated length creates a distinctive sense of weight, revealing different expressions depending on the footwear with which it is styled. Designed to transcend seasons, it lends itself to a wide range of styling possibilities. The fabric is a black denim produced in Kojima, selected for its distinctly vintage character. The richly textured finish, combined with the fabric’s natural firmness and resilience, gives the wide silhouette a pronounced sculptural presence. The metal components feature a dull finish to suppress their sheen, while a back cinch at the waist brings together functionality and a classical workwear detail. Every element has been designed with the understanding that the garment will only be completed through time and wear. With continued use, it will record the shape of the wearer and the passage of time, gradually developing an expression entirely its own.
