A contemporary reinterpretation of a cardigan once worn by a world-renowned artist. The garment is constructed from mohair knit treated with a needle-punching process. Lightweight and soft to wear, the surface gradually evolves as the mohair fibers rise and become more pronounced through continued use. This creates a form of aging rarely experienced in conventional knitwear, allowing the texture and character of the garment to deepen over time. Raw cut-off edges, a sharply constructed front opening, and deliberately distressed grunge buttonholes introduce a sense of tension throughout the piece. Genuine horn buttons are used throughout, developing a deeper luster with continued wear. At the chest, an embroidered motif pays homage to the signature of a painter who had a profound influence on designer Toru N. Fujimoto during the creation of PROVOKE #3. Rendered in the same tone as the body, the embroidery remains restrained while capturing the movement and irregularity of a hand-drawn brushstroke.
