It represents the very origin of designer Toru Fujimoto’s approach to garment making, and interpretations rooted in dresswear are intricately woven into the construction of the casual pieces he creates. Since the Fall/Winter 2022 collection, tailor-made dresswear had been absent from the lineup. After extensive research, experimentation, and contemplation, it now returns—released with full conviction. This piece is crafted from a classical wool gabardine suitable for three seasons. To allow the presence of tailor-made handwork (“DIRTY MARKS”) to be felt, the body lining is designed to subtly reveal the internal structure. MINUS’s signature riders jacket is reinterpreted into a tailored form, featuring iconic front buttons and an extremely deep surgeon’s cuff that creates a striking effect. Buttons are crafted from original, sharply shaped genuine buffalo horn. The lapel adopts a horizontally balanced semi-peak shape, lending a subtly nerdy impression. The traditional chest welt pocket has been deliberately eliminated, resulting in a minimalist design with a sense of openness. The precisely sculpted, just-fit silhouette enhances the body beautifully and reveals different expressions depending on the choice of bottoms—not limited to formal dress scenes.
