BOOTLEG COLLECTION is built around vintage T-shirts produced between the 1970s and 1990s, drawing from designer Toru N.Fujimoto’s personal collection as its primary reference. For this piece, MINUS reinterprets a vintage item from a custom motorcycle brand that embodies the theme of PROVOKE #4. The body is pigment-dyed to recreate the faded appearance of a garment worn over many years, along with the subtle irregularities and variations that emerge across its surface. A boxy silhouette alters the balance with the lower half of the body, allowing the piece to adapt to a wide range of styling. The original graphic, once expressed through print, has been reconstructed using a specialized embroidery technique. Uneven outlines and tonal variations reminiscent of a worn, distressed print are translated through embroidery, giving the graphic an entirely different sense of texture and depth. Each piece is individually distressed by hand at the MINUS atelier, creating a rich surface with subtle variations from one garment to another. With repeated wear and washing, the embroidery threads will gradually fade, aging alongside the pigment-dyed body and recording the passage of time. Designed as a garment that continues to be rewritten by its wearer, each piece will develop an expression entirely its own. Made in Japan.
