The leather jacket is one of the most symbolic pieces within the MINUS collection and, in many ways, the face of the brand itself. Each season, particular attention is given to every stage of its creation, from the selection of the leather to the final finishing process. This is because, within the wardrobe of designer Toru N. Fujimoto, the leather jacket remains one of the most essential and irreplaceable garments. At the same time, the overcoat worn above it holds an equally inseparable place. Developed from the idea of an overcoat designed specifically to be worn over a riders jacket, this piece reinterprets a classic tielocken coat from an iconic heritage brand through the perspective of MINUS. While retaining the fundamental construction and detailing of the original, the garment is redefined through material and silhouette. Generous volume is introduced through the body and sleeves to preserve its function as a true overcoat. This allows it to be layered comfortably over substantial outerwear, including leather riders jackets, without restricting movement. The distinctive waist belt also functions as a tool for reshaping the silhouette. The coat can be worn open and away from the body or tightly cinched at the waist to create a more defined form. Its oversized silhouette vertically carves the outline of the body, while the dramatic floor-length hem responds to movement, creating changing shadows and volume with every step. The outer fabric is MINUS’s original Destroy Denim, first introduced in PROVOKE #4. As with the KOJIMA series, the INDIGO version is dyed with indigo, while the BLACK version uses sulfur dye. Through continued wear, each develops its own fading, contrast, and depth, allowing the surface to evolve gradually over time. The lining is constructed from substantial moleskin, a fabric historically used for outerwear. Its dense structure enhances both abrasion resistance and insulation while introducing a contrasting sense of weight and texture within the garment. When the lapels are turned back, the moleskin is deliberately revealed in a manner reminiscent of the silk facing of a tuxedo. This allows the coat to shift between multiple expressions depending on how it is worn, creating an ambiguous space somewhere between workwear and dresswear. MINUS’s signature ladder stitching runs along the center back. An internal pocket is incorporated into the lining, while minimally beveled genuine horn buttons are used throughout. All metal components are finished with a restrained DARL treatment. An overcoat designed to envelop a leather jacket.
