This piece reinterprets the iconic Type II and Type III denim jackets from a certain jeans manufacturer, drawn from the personal collection of designer Toru Fujimoto, and reimagined through a split design. Not only the signature details, but also the fabric flow and seam structures are divided—carefully designing the contrast in fading and color evolution that emerges over time. This approach reflects one of Fujimoto’s core design principles: designing aging itself. He also placed particular emphasis on balancing the fusion of the straight, architectural character of the Type II with the curved, modern sensibility of the Type III. While retaining the original cropped proportions, the silhouette is re-patterned to achieve a sharp yet modern profile. A ladder stitch runs along the center back. Grunge-finished buttonholes. Minimal dull-finished metal parts. The fabric is 11oz denim, slowly and carefully woven in Kojima, Okayama Prefecture—widely regarded as the sacred ground of Japanese denim.
