A piece reconstructed from a 1920s dress shirt found within the personal archive of designer Toru N. Fujimoto. While retaining the classical chin-strap detail, the structure is modernized through ergonomic pattern making. This garment reconsiders the shirt in its original role as underwear, balancing the delicacy of an underlayer with the presence of lightweight outerwear. The chest pocket is intentionally placed internally. This preserves the refined appearance of a dress shirt, eliminates interference beneath jackets, and functions as a practical inner pocket when worn alone. At the chest, an embroidery pays homage to the signature of a painter who deeply influenced the creation of PROVOKE#3. Rendered tone-on-tone, the embroidery emphasizes the texture and movement of brushwork. Thumbholes are integrated into the cuff boundary, allowing styling to alter the garment’s expression. Fabric: traditional plain-weave cotton, designed to develop richer character through wear. Available in vintage-inspired off-white and contemporary black.
